Please note that these instructions are designed in sequential order for each area above, i.e., from turning on the system to turning off the system. Should you need to switch between systems, i.e., the document camera and the lectern computer, etc., you should select the appropriate options (i.e., Source Select->Document Camera, and then Source Select->Lectern Computer) as needed, without turning off the system each time.
In addition, if you are unsure as to if the equipment and software will operate in accordance with your needs, it is highly advised that you schedule time to conduct a test prior to the actual scheduled room use (see "Management & Usage Guidelines" section for reservation information).
Room Control
Touch AMX screen on lectern to activate (press hard once). The display should light up and the following information should be displayed:

The "SOURCE SELECT" page (see graphic above) provides access to the "ROOM" control page which allows control of various room functions. These include: drapes, lights, projection screen, audio volume, and projector blanking. Selecting the "ROOM" control page displays the following information:

The Projector Blanking button can be used to "mute" the output of the video projector without actually turning the projector off. Press the button again and the image will reappear.
"mic Volume" refers to the audio level from the microphones (lectern and wireless) to the six ceiling speakers. Touch "Up", "Down", or "Mute" to adjust the level.
"Program Volume" refers to the audio level from the VCR, or any of the computer inputs, to the two speakers flanking the projection screen. Touch "Up", "Down", or "Mute" to adjust the level.
The "Lights" settings move from light to dark (Pre 1 having the most light to Pre 4 having the least light).
AMX Soft Key Remote
A portable remote control device is available for controlling the VCR, document camera, main lectern computer, lectern laptop computer, table laptop computer, slides, room control, volume, and system off configurations. The remote control is located in the left side of the tall cabinet at the back of the room (obtain keys from Mrak 5th floor receptionist).
1. Unplug remote from AC adapter in cabinet.
2. Use remote to control devices as you would the lectern control system.
3. Plug remote into AC adapter in cabinet when finished.
To Use the Microphone Only
There is a permanent microphone affixed to the lectern. Additionally, there is a wireless, lapel-type mic stored in the equipment cabinet at the rear of the room. The lapel-type mic is stored in a small black case located in the left side of the tall cabinet at the back of the room (obtain keys from Mrak 5th floor receptionist). If the lapel-type mic is desired, flip on the power switch on the transmitter and verify the battery has an adequate charge (there's a meter on the transmitter to accomplish this). Other than attaching the mic to your belt or shirt, no other action is required to operate the lapel-type mic.

The volume can be adjusted using the "Up", "Down", and "Mute" buttons on this page. At this point, you should be able to begin your presentation (if microphone service is all you require).
When finished using the system, press "System Off" from "SOURCE SELECT" screen (touch screen again from "MIC VOLUME" screen for "SOURCE SELECT" screen to be displayed).

To Play a Video Tape
The VCR is located in the lectern behind the podium cabinet door (obtain keys from Mrak 5th floor receptionist). There is a light located in the cabinet above the VCR. A twist dial at the base of the handle turns on and off the light. The light is on a flexible arm and can be moved up and down so that the light displays on the equipment.
Pull down front panel of the VCR (the section which says "Sony" and "Stereo Videocassette Recorder") so that a tape may be inserted.
Insert a VHS tape into the VCR.

Touch the "VCR" button. This action will lower and turn on projector, lower screen, lower lights, and bring up "VCR Control" page. Allow 30 seconds for all switching to occur and the image to appear on the screen. The following information should be displayed:

Use touch panel controls as normal for a typical VCR.
Adjust audio volume as necessary using "Up", Down, and "Mute" buttons on panel.
When finished using the system, press "System Off".
To Display a Computer Presentation
There are three options available for a computer presentation:
1) Using the resident computer in the lectern.
2) Hooking up a laptop at the lectern.
3) Hooking up a laptop at the table (connection is located underneath the middle of the table in a box - see 202\3\4 Computer & Voice System Information for more more information regarding configuration).
If using the dedicated lectern computer:
The computer is located in the lectern behind the locked cabinet door. Turn on the computer and log with account information as noted on keyboard.

Touch the "LECTERN COMPUTER" button. This will lower and turn on projector, lower the screen, dim the lights and close the drapes. Allow 30 seconds for all switching to occur and the image to appear on the screen.
If using one of the laptop inputs, the same procedure applies except you should choose the appropriate "LECTERN LAPTOP COMPUTER" or "TABLE LAPTOP COMPUTER" button. Be sure of the following:
1) The computer interface input cable must be plugged into the video output port of the computer. There are two heads on this cable. One each for PC and Mac.
2) The video output of the laptop must be activated. Different laptops handle this function differently. Be sure you're familiar with the process for the laptop you're using!
Attached to the video feed on the podium is a 1/8 stereo din connection you can use to connect your system's audio to room's audio system.
When finished using the system, press "System Off".
To Use the Document Camera
The document Camera is located in a locked drawer in the side of the lectern (obtain keys from Mrak 5th floor receptionist). It can display any opaque document or object, as well as a transparency. The drawer must first be pulled out, and the camera set up. To set up the camera, carefully unfold the two lamp arms and raise the camera head by releasing the lock adjacent to the arm. Turn on the power switch on the side of the unit.

Touch the "DOC CAM" button. This will lower and turn on projector, lower the screen, dim the lights and close the drapes. Allow 30 seconds for all switching to occur and the image to appear on the screen.
1) Open the right side of the lectern cabinet (obtain keys from Mrak 5th floor receptionist).
2) Remove cover from document camera.
3) Carefully unfold lamp and camera arms - Lamp arms: unfold to the right and left (or vice versa depending upon how arms were last closed). Main camera arm: press the release button located at the base of the main "Canon"-labeled, diagnally-placed arm, then pull up gently.
4) There are a series of controls located on the front of the document camera. These allow zooming in and out, focus adjustments, and selection of proper lighting for the object being displayed. Press the POWER switch located on the left side of the document camera (underneath and to the side of the black "Power" label).
5) Press the LIGHTS button on the document camera control panel (second button in from right side).
6) Place your document on the document camera (documents in landscape format work best).
7) Move the "Canon"-labeled camera arm until your document can be viewed appropriately on screen.
8) Use the ZOOM->TELE button to enlarge the size of the picture displayed (i.e., zoom in and see less of the document in larger detail). Press the ZOOM->WIDE button to reduce the size of the document displayed (i.e., zoom out and see more of the document in less detail).
9) If you are displaying a black and white document (i.e., no color), the B/W light should be on. If not, the B/W button should be pressed.
10) When finished using the document camera, press the POWER switch located on the left side of the document camera (underneath and to the side of the black "Power" label).
11) Carefully fold lamp and camera arms -Main camera arm: press the release button located at the base of the main "Canon"-labeled, diagnally-placed arm, turn camera to the right side so it can lay flat, then push down gently. Lamp arms: fold to the right and left, adjusting the lamp portions so arms lay as flat as possible.
12) Place cover back on document camera.
13) Slowly close document camera drawer to ensure arms are sufficiently folded/closed to allow closing of the drawer.
When finished using the system, press "System Off" from "SOURCE SELECT" AMX screen located on lectern.
To Project Slides
The slide projector is located in the left side of the tall cabinet at the back of the room (obtain keys from Mrak 5th floor receptionist) and can not be removed from the cabinet. It accepts a standard slide carousel. Load your slides into the projector.

Touch the "SLIDES" button. This will lower and turn on projector, lower the screen, dim the lights, and close the drapes. Allow 30 seconds for all switching to occur and the image to appear on the screen. The following information should be displayed:

The slide projector can be controlled using the buttons on the slide control page (see above).
When finished using the system, press "System Off".
To Make a Conference Call
You need to bring your own conference-call capable telephone equipment in order to make conference calls. The voice (telephone) connection is located underneath the middle of table in the box - see 202\3\4 Computer & Voice System Information for more information). A special authorization code is necessary to make off-campus calls, please make the necessary arrangements to have this code prior to your meeting. Please see the Management & Usage Guidelines for more information regarding this service.
To End the Presentation
Touch the "SYSTEM OFF" button at the bottom of any page. Touching "System Off" will shut down all projectors, raise the lift, open the drapes, raise the lights, raise the screen, and turn off the VCR.
This will bring up the "SYSTEM OFF" page asking for verification.

Be aware that there is a three-minute cool down period required for the video projector before it can be restarted.
Pressing "SYSTEM OFF" at this juncture will cause the following information to be displayed.
